Issue: Presenter needs to use to 2 Zoom connections and there is a significant echo.
Audio circuits in desktops, laptop, smartphone and tablet have an electronic filter which eliminates the microphone input from being output to the speakers. This protects equipment and ears from annoying feedback/echo loops. This type of filtering does not work between devices as there is no electronic filter circuit connecting devices. In this situation feedback/echo must be dealt by preventing the speaker sound from entering into the microphone physically.
Potential fixes:
Best: Only use speaker and microphone on one device. Audio (mic/speaker) on the second device should be off/muted.
Alternatives: If you must use one device for mic and a second device for speakers, try one or more of the following:
- Turn speaker volume as low as possible and face speakers away from microphone being used.
- Use headphones instead of speakers.
- Position microphone as close to mouth as possible and reduce mic gain/volume
- Use an external directional mic (Cardioid or Hyper Cardioid) with tail of the mic turned toward speakers.
