General Statement

Presentations that are given on EMDC Online are housed, managed, and distributed through the EMDC platform. The presentations are restricted to enrolled and active individuals. This is done so that attendees can have the assurance that they can participate freely in discussions, chat, and other online activities without the fear that the recordings will be posted in an unauthorized manner.

Names and locations of individuals (presenting or asking questions) are used freely during the discussion time. Those who participate trust that they will not see their names or discussion out on YouTube or Vimeo someday.

Post-Event Viewing of Recording

If you have friends or colleagues that want to take advantage of our recorded sessions, please feel free to urge them to enroll at emdc.online.  They can see your presentation and hundreds of others!

Inviting Others To View a Presentation

If you have content that you presented on our platform that you wish to distribute more widely or pass on to other friends, these are two quick options. (1) Ask them to enroll (see above), or (2) record the same presentation in the same way on Zoom, Loom, Vimeo, or Youtube.  The content and supporting materials belong to you. We would hope that you are making your materials available to a broader audience than EMDC. But the recording that was done on EMDC Online (potentially with questions, chat, names, and information) needs to be retained solely on our protected platform and is not released to the public.

History of this Policy

This is not a new policy but rather a continuation of one that has been in place for years. EMDC in-person did audio recordings of most breakout sessions and main session talks. The audio and slides were then made available afterward, but only to those who attended EMDC. This is no different.  Recordings are available to those who are enrolled and security-checked.

Requests for Exemptions

You are welcome to make a request for an exemption, but please know in advance that you will need to make a pretty strong case for why one of our two options above (enroll/watch or record your own presentation) will not work. The option of you editing and cutting out all of the potential revealing content is not an option. That still violates the commitment we made to our attendees that copies would only be available on our site and second, it adds and administrative level that we do not have the resources to provide.

Summary

We trust that you can see our position of needing to make a moderately restrictive blanket policy. We wish we had the administrative staff to handle it differently, but we do not. As such, we need to create and maintain a more broad and restrictive policy.  Thank you for understanding.
